Buckwheat is a highly underrated particle in South African carp fishing. Its small, angular shape closely resembles natural food items found on the bottom of the dam or river. Once cooked and introduced into a feeding area, buckwheat settles into silt, gravel, and weed beds, forcing fish to forage slowly and methodically. This behaviour keeps carp and other species feeding in your swim for extended periods without overfeeding them.
Because buckwheat is prepared by the angler, you have full control over texture and flavour infusion. It can be cooked soft for quick breakdown or slightly firmer for longer-lasting feed, and it absorbs sugars, salts, and liquid attractors exceptionally well. This makes it an excellent base or filler particle in custom ground feed particle mixes.

HOW TO USE
• The Prep (Essential): Soak raw buckwheat in water for 12–24 hours. Boil for 10–20 minutes until the grains soften and begin to slightly split.
• The Carpet Feed: Mix cooked buckwheat with hemp and small tiger nuts and apply via spodding or bait boat to create a wide feeding area.
• The Mielie Bomb Additive: Knead cooked buckwheat into your mielie bomb mix to break up the texture and leave a fine food trail on the bottom.
